Large and tall Silphium, very long lived, with huge tap roots. Native to eastern and central North America. It has triangular toothed leaves, and daisy-like yellow composite flower heads in summer. Can grow up to 2.5 meters high in time if really happy. It has square stems that are strong enough to support its massive height without needing staking if grown in an open site. Excellent for insects as a straight species. Its massive! If you have the space this is a fantastic friend.
